According to J Edgar Hoover, Jack allegedly had an affair with a Nazi woman during World War II. This piece of information was one of the reasons the Kennedy administration took so long to jump into the civil rights movement in the south.

Part of the reason Kennedy won his election was because he had the courage to talk about the missile gap and the Cuban invasion.
What is interesting about this is, of course, a) there was no missile gap and b) Nixon could not say anything about the Cuban invasion because he knew state secrets, so had he spoken, he would have likely revealed too much.

Guys, I’m ridiculously sorry about the lack of updates, but my semester started way faster than expected. Welcome to upper-year uni. That and there have been some issues with my living situation. My American history class is starting the Kennedy portion and I’m super excited. Hopefully there’ll be better updates soon.

When Jack was running for office after the war, Joe Sr touted about his son’s military accomplishments; one of the things he used most was Jack’s health. He and his whole family pretended Jack’s health was so poor, and his figure so pale, sickly, and fragile, because of the tragedies he had been through in WWII, covering the fact that he’d been this way his whole life.
